November Holidays to inspire all kinds of amazing content!

November Holidays to inspire all kinds of amazing content!

November is here and that means that the holiday season is in full swing! Pumpkin spice everything, changing leaves, colder weather and TONS of amazing content!

For us at Pets on Q this time of year is historically the busiest time in the world of influencer marketing!

There are tons of brands looking to book animal talent, and we have thousands of talented influencers on our roster. So, please reach out to us if you are looking to hire an animal to promote your product or service, or to learn about our amazing all-in-one booking platform.

November is also National Senior Pet Month

November is also National Senior Pet Month and that means it is a great time to consider adopting a senior pet! Senior pets are often the hardest for shelters and rescues to find homes. They have higher euthanasia rates, and many are simply overlooked. However, they can make wonderful companions for the right person or family.

Here are some reasons why a senior pet might be right for you:

  • They have likely outgrown their “toddler energy” and have mellowed out considerably

  • They are usually already trained for the basics such as house training so they can be easier to integrate into your lifestyle

  • They do not require the extra attention that a puppy or kitten might need

  • They are older and wiser and likely very grateful to have a warm and safe place to be

As with all pets, an adjustment period should be expected anytime they are introduced to a new environment or living situation.

November is a great month to reflect on all the wonderful things in our lives that we are thankful for. It has been another doozie of a year for most of us but focusing on thankfulness and gratitude can be very helpful in keeping your outlook positive.

This month there are tons of holidays to inspire your content creation! From Diwali to World Kindness Day to National Pickle Day and Thanksgiving, there is no shortage of inspiration.

October is here! Get inspired by all the spook-tastic holiday fun!

We are so happy that it is finally October, we love this time of year! We hope that you are inspired to capture some really amazing content this season with your pets.  Remember, not all pets like being in costume, so be sure to pay attention to your animal for signs of stress and reward them generously! October is National Pet Wellness Month! So, it’s a great time to take a step back, evaluate your current situation and make whatever changes are necessary to promote optimal heal and wellness for your pets.

Our pets seemingly love us more than they love themselves, but unfortunately, they typically age faster than us. It’s very sad to watch your beloved pet age before your eyes, and it can often feel like there is nothing you can do to slow the process. However, if you focus on the best, possible, overall health and wellness for your pets, you can elongate your quality time together.

Because pets age more quickly than we do, changes in their health can occur and escalate very quickly. The best way to keep your pets free from illness is to make routine wellness appointments. These visits will help your veterinarian:

  • Keep your pets’ health and wellness on the right track.

  • Diagnose and treat any illnesses.

  • Administer species-specific vaccinations for disease prevention and protection.

  • Address potentially threatening health issues before they become a big problem.

Statistically, more than half of the dogs and cats in America are overweight or obese. Overweight animals run the risk of developing high blood pressure, diabetes, digestive issues, liver problems, heat intolerance and other health complications. Keep your pets in a healthy weight range by:

  • Feeding them a diet with wholesome ingredients and balanced nutrition tailored to their age group.

  • Giving them treats sparingly; treats are full of excess calories and fat.

  • Not feeding them table scraps.

  • Setting aside time for them to get adequate exercise.

Dental hygiene is just as important for pets as it is for humans! Without regular dental care, your pets are at risk of developing all kinds of painful (and expensive) periodontal disease. This can lead to pain, tooth loss and internal organ damage if left untreated. Proper dental care can add YEARS to your pets’ lives!

  • Routine dental exams help vets find and treat dental issues before they become irreversible.

  • At-home dental care consists of daily brushing. You can also complement brushing with a special diet, water additives or sealants.

A socialized and exercised pet is a HAPPY pet! Get to know your pet’s personality and breed specifics and do your best to engage them daily in activities that nurture their development

  • Daily walks and exercise are a must for even the laziest couch-dogs

  • Find local dog parks where your buddy can find friends and run and play

  • Buy toys that your pet LOVES and make it a point to play together every day

  • If your pet is an indoor pet, make sure their indoor environment is enriched with toys and things to engage them and keep their interest

October is also Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and this is a time near and dear to our hearts, personally.  Both Colleen and I have adopted shelter dogs and it changed our lives for the better! The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) sponsors and promotes Adopt a Shelter Dog Month every October, while the American Humane Society has celebrated a month-long October campaign encouraging the adoption of shelter dogs since 1981. Please join us in honoring Adopt a Shelter Dog Month by doing any of the following:

  • Adopt a shelter dog

  • Share the story of your shelter dog’s adoption with others to raise awareness

  • Volunteer at a local shelter

  • Donate money or pet food or items to a local shelter

These are just a couple of examples of ways you can make a difference this October for Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

This year we hope you have an incredible October, and remember, it’s not only about Halloween! There are plenty of other holidays to inspire creative content creation including National Black Dog Day, National Taco Day and National Fetch Day, to name a few! It is our favorite month in my home, and we hope you and yours have a wonderful time and remember to tag @petsonQ whenever you post great animal content on your social media accounts!

Here are the holidays coming up in October:

September is here, and so are more great pet holidays!

September is upon us, and we cannot wait for all the content chock full of changing leaves and cooler weather! At Pets on Q we have been very lucky and stayed busy as the world has tried to get back to normal and everyone has gone back to school and work. We love to see the content you create, so please keep tagging us!

September is National Service Dog Month and we think service dogs should get ALL the praise (and all the treats)! According to American Humane, service dogs are specially trained to perform specific tasks for people with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. They can be trained to retrieve objects, assist with balance, give seizure or diabetic alerts, or assist those with psychiatric disabilities. They also serve our nation’s wounded warriors suffering from conditions including Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury. Service dogs provide companionship while inspiring confidence and they live to serve and assist their handlers. With the help of a service dog, humans can better manage disabilities and live fuller lives. Be sure to post about any service dogs in your life in September, and please tag @PetsonQ for your chance to be featured on our page!

September is also super-exciting at Pets on Q for another reason – September 19 th – 25 th is Deaf Pet Awareness Week!  Our own PoQ resident dog in charge, mascot if you will, CHARLIE @deafdal is totally deaf (obviously, lol) and totally AMAZING!  Charlie is a continued source of love, laughter, fun and inspiration for all who know him.  He doesn’t let being deaf hold him back in any way. Pets on Q is really here BECAUSE of Charlie, to be honest, he is the reason everything started, and he is where Colleen continues to draw her energy and passion from. Charlie was a certified therapy dog, is a trained set-dog, gorgeous canine model and creator of shenanigans and lots of doggy kisses. THANK YOU, for being you, Charles, you are truly one in a million!

There are lots of other amazing holidays in September including Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, National Cheeseburger Day and World Rhino Day, to name a few. Use our holiday guide as inspiration for your content planning and tag us when you post so we can see all the incredible content you come up with!

Liven up your content with these inspiring August holidays!

Summer is in full force and many influencers are enjoying wonderful engagement with their followers.  Wherever you are, and whatever the current status is on things being open (or not) and masks being required (or not), here at Pets on Q we want to wish you a
safe, healthy and happy summer!

August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), and that means it’s a great time to double check and make sure that you and your loved ones (human and animal alike) are up to date with vaccinations. We understand that vaccines may be a hot-
button issue at the moment, and we certainly respect everyone’s freedom of choice, but regardless of your stance it is an important subject to be well-versed on.

NIAM was established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to raise awareness of the importance of vaccinations for people of all ages.  It educates us about immunizations that protect against serious and potentially life-threatening diseases. But vaccinations are not just for people, your animal (whether furry, scaly or feathery) may need vaccinations as well.  Be sure to check with your vet so you can stay up to date on any
recommended vaccinations for your pets in order to keep them as safe and healthy as possible. Many need to be updated each year, so it’s never too early to check!

In August we also honor the amazing, hardworking assistance dogs of the world (and their trainers) by celebrating International Assistance Dog Week (IADW) from August 2nd to August 8th. Assistance dogs take their dedication to their humans even further than usual by helping them navigate their daily lives, assisting with various tasks, providing companionship, love and constant vigilance.

Many humans literally could not live comfortably and independently without their Assistance dogs. If you or someone you know has an Assistance dog, send them some extra love this week and show them you care! Be sure to get some great photos and tag us when you post them 🙂

August is a spectacular month to capture incredible content with your pet to use on your social media pages.  No matter what kind of pet you have (or even if you don’t have one) there are plenty of days that could be very fun to celebrate! From World Lion, Elephant and Lizard Day on the 10th, to Black Cat Appreciation Day on the 17th, to National Dog Day on the 26th there are tons to choose from. I know that I, for one, am definitely going to be busting out my meditation pyramid to capture some fun content and celebrate National Holistic Pet Day with my pets on the 30th

Remember to always make sure your pet is safe, secure, and rewarded for their time in front of the camera! Be sure to tag @petsonQ in any of the amazing photos or videos you create, and be sure to check out the Pets on Q IG and Community for the latest challenges that you can be a part of!
