10 Steps to Hiring the Perfect Pet Influencer: Ensure your campaign’s success!

10 Steps to Hiring the Perfect Pet Influencer: Ensure your campaign’s success!

Did you know that pets can be used to advertise your brand or product?

Influencers are a great way for brands to reach a huge audience of potential customers, while keeping to a smaller budget than traditional advertising. With pet Influencers, however, you get the best of both worlds! You can reach an even broader, pet-loving audience, while keeping your budget smaller than with traditional advertising.

How can brands be sure they are prepared when they decide to try influencer marketing, and how do they know what steps to take to ensure a successful booking and campaign? Here are the 10 Steps To Hiring The Perfect Pet Influencer, read on to learn more!

  • Clearly define the brand objectives
What are your goals with this campaign? Is there a coupon code you would like to push out to an audience, or is this to raise brand awareness? Knowing what your objectives are in hiring influencer talent is the first step towards making sure you make the right decision.

  • Decide what kind of pet accounts you want to work with     Pet Influencers can advertise just about anything, pet related or not. Start by asking yourself what kind of animal you want. Is a dog account right for your brand? Or a cat account? Or maybe even a reptile or farm animal? Do you want an outdoorsy, natural feel, or a more commercial vibe? Are costumes a must, or do you want cute and cuddly faces? What kind of audience do you want the influencer to have? There is no shortage of account types out there, so have fun and dream up the perfect kinds of accounts that you want to work with as you begin this process.

  • Provide creative direction within your messaging guidelines
The more details you can provide, the better! Think about the actual deliverables you want and how you want it to look. Maybe you want an Instagram story, Instagram reel, TikTok video, or the combination of deliverables. Think about key messaging you would like the influencer to get across and any tags or hashtags that you would like included. Doing this will ensure that they stick to your creative direction and lead to a higher conversion rate. The influencer will bring their own creative energy to the campaign, but you must provide the guideline so they can stick within your branding and objectives.

  • Determine your budget
Influencer marketing on social media is the wave of the future, and while it is typically more reasonably priced than traditional advertising, it is still a multi-billion dollar industry (and no one works for free). If you expect quality content, expect to pay fairly for it, and know what your budget is up front so you can consider accounts that are in your price range.

  • Decide what level of influencer you want to work with
There are all kinds of influencers with varying follower count and engagement rates from nano on up to mega influencers. Obviously, the more engagement and true following they have, the more money they could potentially cost to work with, so be mindful of your goals when it comes to your budget and just what kind of influencer you want to work with. Some of the information out there is hard to understand, and some is outright incorrect, which leads me to my next point…

  • Decipher real data from fake data
It’s easier than ever for people to buy their fame on social media and many influencers have fake followers and audiences that are not real or engaged at all. It’s important to review account details to make sure everything makes sense before you start collaborating, but how do you tell if an influencer’s followers are real? Wouldn’t it be great if there was an easy way to see an influencer’s real, quality, follower count so you could determine an accurate value? That’s where we come in!

  • Narrow your search criteria and select your favorites       Utilize the Pets on Q Booking Platform to search for the perfect pet influencer! Browse thousands of vetted animal influencers that match your specific search criteria in our platform. We take out the guesswork and show you the real numbers so you can see the overall picture of the influencer’s potential reach. As a brand, you can use our technology to see accurate valuations, demographics and more! We have everything in one place and give you the keys to unlocking the actual information you need to book influencers with confidence!

  • Check each influencer’s past work, brand affiliations and audience data                                                                          Once you have settled on some influencers you are interested in, make sure you are familiar with their page aesthetic and determine if it is a good fit. Do they have a lot of ads and does it feel too commercial? Have they worked with your competitors in the past? Is their photography or videography style a suitable fit?  Depending on your brand or product offering, you may need a specific audience in a specific place. With influencer marketing it is easier than ever to get very specific, and we can help!

  • Place a casting call so that influencers will apply to you
Have you ever thought of having vetted influencers apply to work with you? Work smarter, not harder and let the interested influencers come to you! When you place an advertisement on our platform it has the potential to be seen by thousands of pet influencers that are ready and available to book campaigns with brands right away! Pets on Q saves you time and money by doing the hard work and getting you recommendations to choose from.

  • Make offers, negotiate rates and book animals the easy way
We make it simple to start the conversation with influencers you are interested in, whether the influencer applied to your ad and named a price, or you reached out to them directly with an offer. Then, once you have gone through the applications and negotiated rates, you can book the influencer or influencers that align best with your campaign and brand’s individual needs and move on to the next steps quickly and easily!

So you want to make money with your pet?

So you want to make money with your pet?

We know—it’s a tough gig. You have to keep up with the latest trends, make sure you’re always posting the right content at the right time (and sometimes even write it yourself), and get paid for doing it all. It can feel like a lot of work, but we’re here to help!

Trips galore, free products, and a beautifully curated Instagram—the life of an influencer seems like a dream come true. While that may seem like the case, there is a lot of work that goes on behind-the-scenes. We’ve listed below some tips and tricks that we have learned over the years working with influencers and brands.

This network allows our pet talent to work with brands and production companies who want to work with our pets. It also allows us to help new talent get started in the business!

We have a great network of talent that is ready to work with you!

When Pet Stars came out, we were getting thousands of applications from animals who wanted us to manage them. We were so excited by all the amazing pets out there, but we knew we couldn’t take on every single one!

That’s why we’ve created a network of selected talent that are approved by our team. These animal influencers and set animals have gone through temperament testing or training documentation submission requirements, and they’re ready to work with you on projects like movie sets and ad campaigns.

If you’re looking to get your pet into commercials or social media posts, we can help with that too! Licensing is the process of protecting your content so no one can use it without permission. If legal stuff like licensing makes your head spin—we get it! That’s why Pets on Q can take care of this for you so that you know your content is protected and fairly compensated.

What is animal talent?

Much like human talent, animal talent has several avenues to make money in the influencer sphere. You might collaborate with brands or get your pet into commercials. At Pets on Q, we categorize our pet talent into three groups:

1: Approved Influencers

To be an approved influencer, our animal talent is vetted to ensure they have a quality audience of over 1,000. The brands and production companies that we work with need to know that our influencers have a following that engages with their content.

2: Approved Set Animals

Approved set animals are a little different from influencers. These animals have gone through temperament testing, submitted training documentation to our platform, or taken an in-person test. These animals can work on projects like movie or television sets, photoshoots, and ad campaigns!

3: Licensing & Claiming

Claiming is done to protect the content you create so it isn’t monetized without permission. If you want to get your content on television, commercials, or social media, you need to license it. If legal stuff like licensing and claiming makes your head spin, we get it! Pets on Q can take care of this to make sure that your content is protected and fairly compensated.

All approved talent is visible to brands and production companies in our network.

What is Pets on Q’s Network?

When Pet Stars came out, we were getting thousands of applications from animals who wanted to work with Pets on Q. To create a seamless experience, we created our NEW booking platform!

We believe that animal talent should have the tools they need to manage themselves easily, in order to make money doing what they love most. Our goal is to create a level playing field for animal talent so that everyone can succeed. In our network, you can connect with brands, manage your campaigns and get paid securely—all in one place.

If you want to apply to our animal talent network, you can do that here

What are castings?

Whether you get approved for our network or join our animal community, you’ll have the opportunity to start applying to casting calls.

Castings are an open call from brands where influencers can apply to work with them. If you’re just getting started or you’ve been in the influencing game for a while, this is a great way to work with brands that you love. Apply to as many as you want and see what works out! You won’t get selected for each one you apply for, but it increases your chances of landing one.

Once approved for a casting call or campaign, set up a contract with the brand. This contract will include the terms of your agreement and the plan for payment. Once that’s done, the fun begins! This is when you get to start putting together concepts, sending content out for approval and brainstorming captions and hashtags. After your content is approved and posted, you will have successfully finished your campaign!

Active campaigns

Once you get approved for a campaign, you will set a contract in place with the brand. This contract will include the terms of your agreement and the plan for payment. Once that’s done, the fun begins. This is when you get to start putting together concepts, sending content out for approval, and brainstorming captions and hashtags.

After your content is approved and posted, you will have successfully finished your campaign!

Pets on Q is a platform that lets animal talent make money from their content, and we help them with that process. We call this “making it,” and we’re always here to help you grow and have fun in the process.

Pet Nonprofits To Help After Hurricane Fiona and Hurricane Ian

Pet Nonprofits To Help In After Hurricane Fiona and Hurricane Ian

By: Ana Sofía Raffucci

A few weeks ago, Puerto Rico was hit by a Category 1 hurricane named Fiona. Hurricane Fiona made landfall and dropped up to 30 inches of rain in some areas of Puerto Rico. This caused rivers to overflow, rock and mudslides to occur, and left the Island without electricity and water.

The southern part of the island was the most affected by floods that destroyed houses and access roads. Three weeks later, Puerto Rico still has areas and communities without access to basic necessities like electricity and water. Shelters and animal sanctuaries were flooded and damaged, and over one hundred pets were relocated with their families to shelters because they had lost everything. To put into perspective, statistics indicate that 2 out of 3 Puerto Rican households have one or more pets.

Not long after, Hurricane Ian made landfall in Fort Myers, Florida before making its final landfall near Georgetown, South Carolina. The Category 4 hurricane brought a storm surge, rainfall, and flooding to the gulf coast of Florida.

As of October 6th, 2022, nearly 200,000 homes are still without electricity. Due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian, many pets are in need of care or being surrendered by families who are on longer equipped to care for them.

Nonprofits around Puerto Rico and the States are joining forces to help as much as they can. In Puerto Rico, Pet Friendly PR joined forces with Gustazos Puerto Rico by doing local food drives for both humans and animals and transporting everything to communities and areas that were most affected.

The Sato Project is also doing a Sato Drive to collect food, leashes, towels, beds and toys in various locations to help with the efforts. Stateside in Florida, the ASPCA is on the ground in Florida aiding with search-and-rescue, sheltering, and distributing pet food to pet owners who have been affected by Hurricane Ian.

If you would love to help with disaster relief for our furry friends, we encourage you to follow and donate to any of these wonderful pet related non-profits who are doing everything in their power to help our animals across the Island and in the States.
